Baseball

  • In the first season of the MHSAA baseball tournament, the Pinconning Spartans proved to be among the best in the state. After struggling through the regular season, the team caught fire behind pitchers Jack Dora and Rick Rudrow and rolled all the way to the Class B title game. Coach Art Krawczyk's squad came up one win short of winning it all, settling for state runner-up. The team of Ken Ayers, Jerry Basel, George Dora, Jack Dora, Rod Filcek, Jerry Gobrogge, Leo Groh, Jerry Krevinghaus, John Lambert, Dick Laur, Rich Meyette, Wayne Moore, Scott Pickvet, Rick Rudrow, and Marty Schultz and assistant coach Ted Chapman set the standard for years of success in the Pinconning program.
